It was cold, it was windy and it was dark! however, this did not stop 8 photographers braving the bleak Lancashire climate to attend my brand new Blackpool at Night Photography Workshop. Aimed to teach the students how to shoot amazing images at night using basic equipment and to share the techniques that I use to create a vibrant, sharp and dynamic night image.
With a mixture of Professional Full Time Photographers, Part-Time Photographers and Hobbyst shooters, I had to tweak the way I conducted the workshop to include a broad spectrum of information that would not only engage the top tier photographers but would easily inform the hobbyist photographers with a wealth of information to take out into the real world and use the knowledge to produce amazing and creative images for themselves.
We started the evening with the typical meet and greet and with a rumble in our tummies decided that we would kick start the workshop with Fish and Chips, included within the 3 hour Workshop package.
Once fed and watered we hit the famous Blackpool Promenade to start learning all about Light Trail Photography and the settings used to achieve them. Armed with their new knowledge and cameras loaded with these strange new settings, it was time to try something new and a little bit different.

Did Someone Say Wire Wool?
Once I felt that the group was familiar and confident with Long exposure and using the ISO settings responsibly on the camera, It was time to bring out the big guns. What could I possibly do to add a little WOW Factor to the workshop and make the hours of running around in the freezing cold and bitter wind worth while? WIRE WOOL!!! It is fair to say that the group nailed these shots and was the perfect exercise to finish off my Blackpool at Night Photography Workshop 2019.
“I would like to thank all of those that attended the Blackpool workshop and I hope that the skills and techniques acquired, help you achieve and inspire creative and amazing images. I look forward to seeing
